2026 Transportation Information
General Note: This year’s Annual Conference will be held on the campus of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. This rural venue offers wonderful cultural experiences and recreational opportunities, but may require some special travel logistics.
Air Travel
Sewanee is located within an easy drive of three airports:
- Nashville International Airport (BNA): ~ 1 hr 30 min
- Huntsville International Airport (HSV): ~1 hr 20 min
- Chattanooga Airport (CHA): ~1 hr
BNA is the largest of the nearby airports, offering frequent service to a variety of national and international destinations. HSV and CHA are smaller airports but offer daily connections to major hubs such as Dallas-Ft. Worth, Atlanta, and Chicago-O’Hare. Attendees may explore these flight options and determine what works best for their schedule and budget.
Ground Transportation: Airports to Sewanee
Car Rental: All of the airports noted above offer rental car services. Car rental is especially recommended for attendees flying into Huntsville, as the route between there and Sewanee is quite rural (i.e., no interstate highways).
Uber/Lyft: Rideshare services are available from airports to take you to Sewanee. These average approx. $70–90 from CHA and $120–150 from BNA one way, depending on time of day.
Airport Shuttle (BNA only): Groome Transportation offers a paid shuttle service from Nashville International Airport that drops off at Jim Oliver’s Smokehouse in Monteagle, TN, approximately a 10-minute drive from Sewanee (be sure to select ‘Monteagle’ as your drop off destination when purchasing your shuttle ticket).
The Groome shuttle schedule can be found here. Click on “BNA >> Chattanooga**” for the schedule from Nashville Airport to Monteagle; Click on “Chattanooga >> BNA” for the return schedule. Cost is approximately $60 each way; note that you can purchase a return shuttle ticket to BNA when you purchase your outgoing ticket. Reservations are recommended for BNA to Monteagle—their website states: “To ensure availability, we strongly encourage reservations. We will do our very best to accommodate customers who do not provide advance notice, but service cannot be guaranteed.” Reservations for pick-ups from Monteagle going to BNA are required.
**Despite the shuttle Chattanooga destination, this is NOT the Chattanooga airport! The Groome shuttle does not have a stop at CHA. If you are flying in to CHA and want to take the shuttle, you would need to find transportation to the Groome stop in the city (5712 Ringgold Rd East Ridge, TN 37412). The shuttle does pick up at BNA.**
We are organizing a free shuttle to transport conference attendees to and from the Groome shuttle's Monteagle stop so please complete the following Google form to let us know your arrival and/or departure times no later than May 15 to ensure your safe transport to and from Sewanee.

Local Transport
Local transportation options are limited in Sewanee. Rideshare services such as Lyft and Uber are essentially not available for transport in the local area. Walkability is a perk of a small rural setting, however: the walk from central campus to the “village center” of Sewanee, where attendees can find limited dining, shopping, and entertainment options, takes approximately 15 minutes.
