Bagdi tribe is a very prominent tribal group of Patuakhali district with unique culture and traditions. They have been using different plant-parts in the form of paste, powder, juice, decoction, infusion and also in crude form, with other additives like butter, oil, mineral, and milk, to relieve from different ailments. The plant-species were identified with the help of local floras. Many unknown uses of plants brought to the light by the studies, consisting 39 plant-species belonging to 24 families to relieve different ailments like dermatology, gynecology, hepatitis, ophthalmology, rheumatism, antidotes, fevers, cough-colds, colic, headache, toothache, helminthiasis, stomachache, indigestion, cuts, wounds, sexually transmitted infections, nasal drops, and metabolic syndrome. There is an urgent need for documentation of such fast disappearing knowledge for the benefit of future generations, and to acquire intellectual property rights for the claim.
