2017 Field Trips and Tours

Field Trip and Tour Registration is now CLOSED.

Conference participants will have access to the Botanical Garden (greenhouses and the exterior gardens) but not to the Insectarium, nor the Biodôme or Planétarium. There are many things to explore in the area if you should be able to extend your visit to Montreal!

Thursday & Friday Lunchtime Walking Tours

Registration will open once all of the available extra experiences are announced.

A View of Cedar City

Dr. Richard Saunders will lead a short walk (2 miles round trip, paved) to look north across the valley. He will talk about the local geography of regional Paiute subsistence cycles, and point out the local terrain along the Old Spanish Trail (1776–1850) and "Southern route to California" of the gold rush (1848–1852).

Local Gems in SUU Special Collections

Paula Mitchell leads you on a walk through Matheson Special Collections located on the Garden Level of Gerald R. Sherratt. See Native American basketry, pottery, and artifacts from the local Cedar Band of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah.
