Dr. Eugene Hunn Wins the 2014 Distinguished Ethnobiologist Award

The Awards Committee of the Society of Ethnobiology is delighted to announce that Dr. Eugene Hunn, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of Washington, has been selected to receive the Distinguished Ethnobiologist Award at our forthcoming conference in Cherokee. Professor Hunn is well known for his ethnobiological fieldwork across the North American continent, from Alaska to Mexico. He has also made outstanding contributions to theory and method in ethnobiology.

Journal of Ethnobiology: New Submission Process

Journal of Ethnobiology has switched to an online submission system. To submit an article, go to http://ojs.ethnobiology.org.  You will be asked to open an account, after which you will be able to upload submissions and track the progress of your manuscript. Reviews also will be conducted using the OJS (Online Journal Systems) portal. If you have questions about the system, please contact the Editors at editor@ethnobiology.org.

Undergraduate Ethnobiologist of the Year - 2013 - Allison Gracer

Allison Gracer (Environmental Studies, UC Santa Barbara, 2013) was presented with the 2013 Undergraduate Ethnobiologist Award at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Ethnobiology Meetings in Denton, Texas. She was the applicant with the best idea for increasing student involvement and participation in the Society!

Distinguished Ethnobiologist Award - 2013 - Dr. Eugene N. Anderson

The Society’s Board of Directors recognized Dr. Anderson’s honorable record by presenting him with the DEB Award at the Membership Meeting in Denton, Texas on the afternoon of Friday, May 17th during our annual conference. Following the award presentation, Dr. Anderson delivered a unique and eloquent acceptance speech at the annual business meeting. Eugene N.

Barbara Lawrence Award Winners for 2013

The Nina Etkin Young Researcher Award

 

1. Purpose: The Etkin Award has two purposes. First, to honour the memory of Nina Etkin and her work in ethnopharmacology and second, to support graduate students doing field work in ethnopharmacology.
