General Note: This year’s Annual Conference will be held on the campus of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. This rural venue offers wonderful cultural experiences and recreational opportunities, but may require some special travel logistics.

 Air Travel

Sewanee is located within an easy drive of three airports:

BNA is the largest of the nearby airports, offering frequent service to a variety of national and international destinations. HSV and CHA are smaller airports but offer daily connections to major hubs such as Dallas-Ft. Worth, Atlanta, and Chicago-O’Hare. Attendees may explore these flight options and determine what works best for their schedule and budget.

 Ground Transportation: Airports to Sewanee

Car Rental: All of the airports noted above offer rental car services. Car rental is especially recommended for attendees flying into Huntsville, as the route between there and Sewanee is quite rural (i.e., no interstate highways).

Uber/Lyft: Rideshare services are available from airports to take you to Sewanee. These average approx. $70–90 from CHA and $120–150 from BNA one way, depending on time of day.

Airport Shuttle (BNA only): Groome Transportation offers a paid shuttle service from Nashville International Airport that drops off at Jim Oliver’s Smokehouse in Monteagle, TN, approximately a 10-minute drive from Sewanee (be sure to select ‘Monteagle’ as your drop off destination when purchasing your shuttle ticket). Cost is approximately $60 each way; note that you can purchase a return shuttle ticket to BNA when you purchase your outgoing ticket.

If you will use Groome Shuttle services from the airport, please let us know your date and time of Monteagle arrival/departure using this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdlLfKIaf07Bpza7zZoOK-6L07fFOWHqiDtObU_t6XvLRK8sQ/viewform?usp=dialog

A free shuttle will be waiting at the Smokehouse to take attendees to Sewanee.

 Local Transport

Local transportation options are limited in Sewanee. Rideshare services such as Lyft and Uber are essentially not available for transport in the local area. Walkability is a perk of a small rural setting, however: the walk from central campus to the “village center” of Sewanee, where attendees can find limited dining, shopping, and entertainment options, takes approximately 15 minutes.

An ADA accessible shuttle will be available to transport attendees requiring assistance from campus housing to locations of conference programming.

 Parking

Free parking is available to conference attendees at lots around campus. Attendees should try to park in spaces marked ‘Visitor’.

More information on campus parking, including maps of lot locations, can be found via this link:
