Conservation of Traditional Knowledge About Medicinal Herbs by Indegenous People

Conservation depends on necessity, demands and importance. Sons of soil from ancestry carry on the Medicinal plants conservation and herbal treatment as well as try to propagate it. Nearly two hundred years ago, few native people from District  BANKURA, PURULIA, PASCHIM MEDINIPUR, PURBA MEDINIPUR, WEST BENGAL, INDIA engaged themselves for their upliftment of knowledge on medicinal plants and they still use these for their treatment. In this paper, data collected from different native castes as-SANTAL, BAURI, LOHAR, MAHISYA, BRAHMIN, KURMI(MAHATO), KHARIAL will be shown. In particular, we will present about 200 such herbs that have been used and conserved by these local people.
