We will be presenting preliminary data comparing food plant utilization in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with that of the Vietnamese immigrant community of Portland, Oregon.  Our goal in this study is to determine the degree to which the diversity of utilized crops has changed in the immigrant community, and what are the factors that influence this change.  We utilize market surveys and interviews in both Vietnam and Portland in order to make this comparison.  The results of this study will improve our understanding of dietary changes in the Vietnamese community and potential health implications for this group.
