Since its conception in 2008, the Latin American Society of Ethnobiology (SOLAE) has been growing steadily, and includes members from 14 countries. As part of its commitment to the field of ethnobiology, an ethics committee was elected in 2012 with the mission to draft a Code of Ethics (CoE) for the Society to be presented for official approval at the IV SOLAE Congress in 2015. Through collaborative meetings and reflection in multiple Latin American countries with diverse participants - including academics, non-governmental organizations, indigenous peoples and local communities - a first draft of the SOLAE CoE has been published. The process of discussion and revision continues; several meetings are already scheduled for the upcoming months.  For this session, I would present the first draft of the SOLAE CoE, its current progress and plans for the future. This presentation seeks to engage ethnobiologists from or working in Latin America.
