Speed Friending

Come meet your fellow ethnobiologists through virtual speed-friending! Following the welcome ceremony for the 2021 Virtual Society of Ethnobiology Conference on Wednesday May 12th 5pm (PDT), participants are encouraged to join one another at the “Tables” for introductions and networking. After five minutes, participants will be asked to switch tables to meet other community members from around the world. This is a great way to exchange social media handles, emails, or plan for a later conference zoom coffee with a new colleague


Student-Mentor Workshop

Calling all students in Ethnobiology and related fields! On Thursday May 13th from 3–5pm (PDT) gather to learn from and connect with Ethnobiologists representing a diversity of career stages and pathways. The event will begin with a panel discussion from our mentors where you’ll get to hear a bit about what they all do and then answer some questions from the audience… you! In the second hour, you’ll have the opportunity to join the mentors at tables to discuss one-on-one topics and exchange contact information.


Scavenger Hunt

Seek and what did find at the 2021 Virtual Society of Ethnobiology Conference ? Join us at the end of the week, May 14th 4pm (PDT)  to search your home for a variety of ethnobotanical related items. This fun virtual team activity will bring together small groups of students to engage in discussion around the objects and their relationship to the conference. The winning team will be awarded with some SOE Swag.
