Special Invitation to Contribute to the Global Assessment of Biodiversity

The Global Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Program on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is currently underway and is seeking inputs from the Ethnobiology community as well as from indigenous peoples and local communities. During the Friday morning session we will describe IPBES and the assessment process. Including land, inland waters, coastal zones and oceans, from 2016-2019, the Global Assessment will assess status and trends in biodiversity and ecosystem services during the last 50 years and consider short and long-term future scenarios.

Immediately following the Friday morning session, we will hold a Lunch Forum to present the proposed strategy to operationalize indigenous and local knowledge in the Global Assessment. Participants will become knowledgeable about the ongoing global assessment and will have the opportunity to contribute to the report. We hope you will come to help represent the ethnobiology community and potentially collaborate in the process. A light lunch will be provided.

Please RSVP here before May 1. Space is limited.
