"Soundings of Entanglements" is a captivating photography and art exhibit that explores the intricate web of connections within our world. Through a curated collection of evocative photographs and diverse artistic expressions, the exhibit delves into the subtle and profound relationships that bind us to our environments and each other. By visually capturing and interpreting these 'entanglements,' the exhibit invites viewers to contemplate the entanglements and relatedness that shape our collective experience.
We seek photographs and other art pieces that delve into any aspect of Ethnobiology as a broad discipline—this includes but is not limited to wildlife, landscapes, communities, individuals, and even scientists, scholars, and activists in action in the field. We accept individual images, as well as photo-stories or sequences of images that work together of between 5–8 images.
We invite individuals to submit works that explore the intricate tapestry of ethnobiology, revealing the profound connections between human, non-human, and more-than-human worlds. This exhibition seeks to showcase visual narratives that delve into the reciprocal relationships, traditional knowledge, and ecological wisdom embedded within diverse cultures and their interactions with the natural environment. We welcome submissions that capture the essence of these connections, from the symbiotic relationships between people and other life forms to the artistic interpretations of indigenous knowledge systems and the broader dialogue between humanity and the living world.
Submissions are due by 5th May here: https://forms.gle/dzuTozfyWPX9uH27A
Selected submissions will be displayed at the Soundings of Entanglements exhibit at the Society of Ethnobiology Annual Conference at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe, Nevada from May 21–24 2025.
