General Membership Meeting Reports and Handouts

The General Membership Meeting of the Society of Ethnobiology is being held on Friday, May 10 from 4:00-5:30 in Geography 100. Due to the limited amount of time to cover the many activities that are happening within the Society and the many concerns of our members, we chose to distribute several reports and announcements as supplements to the spoken reports.  These reports are available as attachments to this announcement. The first annual Networking Social for Applied (Non-Academic) Ethnobiology and Ethnobotany Scholars and Practitioners was held at the 2018 SEB-SoE joint meeting in Madison. The event was well-attended beyond the organizers expectations. Students and early, mid and late career professionals filled the room and spilled out the door.

Undergraduate Ethnobiologist Award Winner for 2018

Chlöe Fackler  is the winner of the 2018 Undergraduate Ethnobiologist Award. Chlöe is an undergraduate student at McGill University, studying environmental biology, with a focus on botany and anthropology.

Undergraduate Ethnobiologist Award Winner for 2017

Hope Loiselle is a junior at the University of Maryland studying anthropology and archaeology. Her research interests include zooarchaeology, historical ecology, and island and coastal archaeology.

Election Results for 2017 Board of Trustees

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 Board of Trustees elections.  The new President Elect is Dr. Sarah Walshaw, a Senior Instructor of African History at Simon Fraser University.  Dr. Denise Glover, from the Sociology and Anthropology Department at the University of Puget Sound, has been re-elected to a second term as Treasurer.  The new Publications Liaison is Chelsey Armstrong, a soon-to-be PhD archaeologist at Simon Fraser University.
